Cordage Institute's Strategic Goal and Objectives
Strategic Goal:
Global standardization of testing methodologies for cordage and derivative products (slings, nets, etc.) to create a means for end users to assess, confirm, and make an informed decision on cordage properties.
Primary Objectives:
1. Identify and develop test procedures where there should be a standard approach - e.g. Break Strength, Elongation, Yield, Breaking Length, Reduced Recoil, Diameter Measures, Tension Fatigue, Moisture Content, Specific Gravity, Abrasion Resistance
2. Promote the use of Cordage Institute standards as a foundation for ISO and national standards
3. Support standardization and regulatory agencies with Cordage Institute standards, guidelines, and member involvement
4. Inform membership of worldwide standardization and regulatory activities Â
5. Promote transparency and communication of Cordage Institute activity through direct correspondences and social media tools
6. Maintain a working relationship with Eurocord to coordinate efforts
7. Empower manufacturers to advance environmental stewardship
8. Promote safer use of rope and netting products
